In and around Brunssum, in addition to beautiful nature, the Brunssummerheide and charming towns, there is also plenty to do in terms of events! Throughout the year, numerous fun activities and festivals are organised for young and old. Here you will find an overview of events in the area (if they are taking place soon).
Discovery Museum
AI is all around us. Sometimes we are aware of it, sometimes not. In Discovery Museum you can now visit the informative and interactive exhibition "AI: the expo". This expo paints as complete a picture as possible of Ai as a technology: its applications, opportunities and challenges. Equipped with the right information, you will then be better prepared for social discussions about AI and the choice to what extent you yourself want to use AI systems.
World Music Contest (WMC)
Every four years, the international world of wind music gathers in Kerkrade for the World Music Contest (WMC).
During this four-week festival, the absolute top of wind music competes for the coveted world championship within their discipline. But WMC is more: it is a unique overall experience full of musical spectacle, international encounters and groundbreaking concerts throughout the region.
Heuvelland 4-days
TheHeuvelland4daagseis a walking 4-day event with the aim of allowing walkers to enjoy the nature, sights and culture of South Limburg. The walks go through the hilly Limburg countryside around Valkenburg aan de Geul. Every day you can enjoy all the beauty that Limburg has to offer in terms of nature, magnificent views and picturesque villages.
You can choose from five distances: 8-14-21-28 and 42 kilometers.
Parkstad Ballon Festival
Ook dit jaar is de kasteelweide van Kasteel Hoensbroek de locatie van het Parkstad Ballon Festival.
Dit spectaculaire festival is leuk voor jong en oud. De entree van het festival is gratis en biedt diverse demonstraties waaronder parachutespringen. Zet 21, 22 en 23 september zeker in je agenda!

Brunssum Oktoberfests
At the oldest October festival in the Netherlands you will still find a casual, cozy atmosphere and feel like you are on vacation!
Every year a number of high quality artists from Austria come to Brunssum to make a great party
in the large marquee on the Koutenveld in the heart of Brunssum.
The program is supplemented with good and cozy artists from the region and Germany.
Once you have been to Brunssum once, you will definitely come back every year!
Bokkemèrt Valkenburg
The Bokkemèrt in Valkenburg is a large annual fair. With a street length of nearly three kilometers and over 120 stalls, it is one of the largest annual fairs in Limburg, with a wide selection of goods and delicacies.
As you stroll past the stalls, you can enjoy delicious local produce and Valkenburg conviviality.
Oktoberfest Sittard
A large Wiesn with five pavilions varying in character and a large fairground: Oktoberfest Sittard rightfully belongs in the list of largest October festivals in the Benelux.
The combination of old traditions and the social character ensures a party for young and old with a wide choice for everyone.
